It's like Sublime with IntelliSense..I use vscode for my everyday js work, but I cannot get the jntellisense to work on my Mac! A User Showcase of the Unity Game Engine.Press J to jump to the feed. MD is orders of magnitude slower, has inferior completion options, sports many infuriating bugs and has irritating auto-formatting that is not compliant with C# guidelines. I unistallit an get back to mono.Have you tried installing mono? That's not even considering vastly superior customization options and enormous wealth of third-party additions like Resharper.Really, the only attractive thing about MD is that it's free, but if we limit ourselves to freeware, I'd prefer Sublime Text or bear with plugin-less VS Express.hmm yeah, I think it's super annoying that when I am using a function like IF or anything specially if you use if else then it formats your code all the time in an annoying way and it takes so much time reformatting it all the time that I sometimes start thinking "hmm, maybe there is some other way to do this quickly without using and if statement so I don't have to reformat the code? Pretty much useless at this point.Ok, let me get this straight, have you (lots of ITT too apparently) even try it (use it to its full extent).I have personally tried (not just one/two days, but weeks/months) with each of these,Complete shit, frustrating to code with, Their default settings (formatting, tab, spaces, etc) is whack, completion sometimes broken, syncing sucks, color scheme is lacking, and the list goes on.Now I'm using this on Windows, which as the doc says, I lose debugging support.

My experience with them is. IDE Comparison. It also had some bugs where I had to manually change the .net framework version every time i opened it before i could do anything. That thing eat way too much resources.VSCode is amazing: fast and lean.. So, I have a 2015ish gaming laptop that I might try to revive to use as a development laptop. "Visual Studio, even free version is better than MonoDevelop in my opinion, with UnityVS free anyway (it's just a simple program to take the file and line number from Unity3D and tells Visual Studio free how to handle it, it's not a pirate version of UnityVS or anything like that). In mono the formatting was a pain, and it often messed up and requires me to force stop the program, VS doesn't have those problems. The free version is Visual Studio Express for windows desktop (the one for windows is not the correct download right?)?

Complete shit, frustrating to code with, Their default settings (formatting, tab, spaces, etc) is whack, completion sometimes broken, syncing sucks, color scheme is lacking, and the list goes on. And those products are simply better in so many ways.

Or, close VS and reopen it from Unity.Disclaimer: I made the video a couple of months to share the technique for getting it set up, after I had figured it out.If you can afford Resharper then Visual Studio is the better tool, due to its SUPERIOR intellisense and refactoring abilities.Resharper is the only reason I bough VS pro, it is completely worth it. I spent most of my time, writing code, If I had to lose debugging support (such as breakpoint) and have to use Debug.Log in order to have a comfortable editing environment, so be it.If you're on OSX, you get the full treatment, which isVersion Control support built in, I even prefer the one inside VSCode (and CLI) than a 3rd party standalone Git client.I even prefer VSCode than using full blown VS Community 2015. I find that to to be a better script editor, loads faster and autocomplete seems to be a little better, I also haven't noticed anything missing from it or bugs that make it unbearable. Did you do anything specific?I had it working for about 2 days, but then some of the internal scripting code stopped working, I noticed a small error/log window popping up, I ended up having to revert to crappy old Mono-Develop.I love Jetbrains, I've used IntelliJ Community a whole lot and RubyMine a bunch, but there's a problem with this: they aren't exactly easy on the memory (thanks, Java) and this can seriously limit what you can do in Unity.

MonoDevelop that came with Unity.

Since I'm on OSX I don't really have any other options. Phenomenal toolwhat is resharper? For instance, it can identify GameObject, but none of its methods or properties!

Visual studio is miles ahead.I'm a huge Visual Studio fan but is there anyway to keep it in sync with the solution files? It seems like every other time I return focus to the VS window, it asks to reload the solution because it has changed.

I've been putting up with MonoDevelop since I got started but I get so frustrated over so many things with it. Most here probably use monodevelop because it comes with unity but maybe visual studio is better?Only a zillion?
