I'm Jad Abumrad. That was the one that made me lose all respect for Malcolm Gladwell.Could you name some exact episodes? Didn't want to spend the time interweaving sounds and conversations and ideas and now it's not nearly as good. They experienced somewhat of a brain drain with their best producers jumping ship. Listen to The Poetry of "Elements", and think about why-- WHY they would try and doing something like that without using their past producer Sean Cole. Hosted by Jad Abumrad and Robert Krulwich, the show focuses on topics of a scientific and philosophical nature. I’ve always liked both either way.I get what they're trying to do, but radiolab was my little escape of the everyday bullshit. Every day in the science section, which I know we all read religiously, if there is a CRISPR thing. Whenever I talk to my friends that listen they seem to have no clue what I'm talking about. Where sound illuminates ideas, and the boundaries blur between science … For at least a year now it's just no good anymore, and it was by far the best before.I just started listening a few months ago and have been listening to them backwards and enjoying it less because it's just one big story. Horseshoe crabs harbor a half-billion-year-old secret: a superpower that helped them outlive the dinosaurs. r/Radiolab: Welcome to the /r/Radiolab! I've been thinking this...but have been kind of in denial about it since it's always been my favourite podcast. I highly suggest CBC radio's Quirks & Quarks if you miss hearing the science.I have noticed more than once that Jad is self deprecating about how "over the top" he used to edit the sound, so maybe their styles and tastes are just evolving beyond what made us love the show? And it's STILL way too over the top. You need time to craft the interweaving conversations. I started from the beginning about a year ago. I can't stand to hear another view on Trump, or Trump supporters.

and Jad's whispering that borders on ASMR just super grating now. But primarily, I'm looking to be educated or learn something.I just finished listening to a Radiolab podcast. It feels a lot like they are trying to reach out to people who just want to hear stories about other people, which is probably a larger group of people than those of us who want to hear stories about science, but it kinda kills their niche. What really gets me about this is that their attempt to reach out to a larger audience worked, I mean look at these As far as the sound design goes, I guess hearing that while driving a car could be pretty annoying, so I feel you there. When we set up shop years ago, the idea was to create a space where hard, hard subjects that nobody would think of as entertainment could be — well, entertaining. It was interesting to see what it was like in its raw form. I don't feel like I learned much that was interesting at all. I had a lot of hope for the Elements episode because they hyped it up like it was gonna be a return to how they used to make episodes but I was disappointed. And don’t get me wrong, I’m as left leaning as anyone, but I don’t listen to political podcasts so if they’re becoming one, well, then they’ve lost me.Honestly I just feel like the whole "wait...what?" But seeing so many people agree solidifies it for me...Radiolab is getting watered down!I have noticed more than once that Jad is self deprecating about how "over the top" he used to edit the sound, so maybe their styles and tastes are just evolving beyond what made us love the show? What bothers me the most though is that they don't talk much science anymore.

"Podcast advertising has led to a number of uncomfortable shifts in the ecosystem. I heard a piece from Radiolab on "This American Life" back in 2007 (The clip was It no longer feels that way. Radiolab has interesting stories- just like any number of other podcasts. I was loving it. Now Radio Lab feels like "This American Life 2: Kinda Science-y Edition".

It's no longer incredible.TL;DR: Producers got lazy. Their shows would make me think of things that had never or rarely crossed my mind. And then when all is said and done, you work hard to create something better than your initial intentions. I've never encountered that on the iOS Podcasts app.I agree. Need moar podcasts to get me through my work day!I loved that episode. Hosted by Jad Abumrad and formerly co-hosted by Robert Krulwich, the show is designed for listeners who demand skepticism, but appreciate wonder.Press J to jump to the feed. I started listening to Radio Lab for long, interesting episodes based on scientific stories with good sound design. I used to grit my teeth and listen for the stories (With lots of fast forwarding through the intro and other audio detritus), but with the story quality slipping, there is no reason to stay.Man, I totally agree. And they spent like 10 minutes on each tidbit that was not educational.I think they're prioritizing entertainment value over educational value. And that sucks, because it used to be a place to learn about really cool things you wouldn't learn elsewhere.A while back someone here said that Radiolab had basically become This American Life #2.
